Moises is Coming!

The 4th Humanican group is off to Nampula, and they are bringing more than memories home with them. Moises Arao, founder of the street children's program, will be coming to Calgary. He will be here from August 7th to September 1st. This is a perfect opportunity to have Moises talk about the program from his perspective. There are many people and families connected to this program now, and many of you who haven't seen Moises since you went to Nampula yourselves. Perhaps you would be interested in hosting a fundraising dinner where you would invite friends, family or even Humanican alumni, to enjoy food and wine while Moises talks about how the program got started, how things changed once FCCF and Humanican became involved, and what the future looks like. Moises and his wife Connie, started this grass roots program with the intention that it would be self-sufficient, without the ongoing support from external providers. I'm sure Moises would love to hear about different business ideas from people here, who have entrepreneur experience, that he can adapt to Africa and hopefully help the program reach this goal. If you are interested in hosting a night between August 7th - 27th, please contact us by email or call FCCF founder Tiffany Fontaine (403.605.4064).

Please note that the 2009 Humanican trip is now full!

This will be the fourth year in a row that FCCF has joined with Humanican to create a humanitarian trip to Nampula for high school students. Humanican was founded by Nigel McCarthy and plans month long trips in the summer months for high school students to have a unique travel experience while doing humanitarian work. For the last three years we have taken three very different groups to Nampula to work with the street kid program, at the Mother Theresa orphanage, and at Connie’s english pre-school. Every trip has been an amazing experience for all and is something we and the street boys look forward to every year. Please see the itinerary below for the upcoming trip, as well as read the articles in our 2008 newsletter written by students who have been in the past. If you are interested, please click on the link to Humanican’s website to find out how to apply or feel free to contact Tiffany Fontaine via the contact us tab of this website.
